Journey to the world of Agarest, a land teetering on the brink of destruction. Following a catastrophic event known as the "Day of Light" a plague of demons was unleashed upon all of the nations of the world and sent them spiraling into chaos. Join Weiss, the main hero, and his descendents on a quest to save the world, restore a god, and perhaps even find true love. (from the game)
For those whom have played both Record of Agarest War 1 and Record of Agarest War Zero, this latest installment will be familiar in the sense that you control a hero whom is destined to become the next spirit vessel for the resurrection of the god Chaos. Once you have finished the first generation, you can choose up to one of 3 females of which to marry and create an offspring so that he can fulfill the role passed down by his father regardless of relationship level. Note that the battle system has changed from the previous games where you now can only have up to 4 characters on the field, and is similar to the one that Cross Edge uses. As such, there are only 3 generations instead of 5 generations that you must complete. As well this is the first Agarest game where you can travel to all 5 continents instead of progressing through each continent during each generation.
Optional Step: Purchase DLC
This step is for those whom would like to spend a bit of cash on items for your characters as well as earn a couple of trophies faster. There is DLC that you can obtain which can benefit you in the long run. While some of them are free, others range between $0.99-$6.99. They are split up into 4 different types:
Weapons DLC such as the Frensberge Specialty Pack 5 ($1.99) containing the Langguth Sword(1), S. V. Rouge(1), Injector Maximus(1), Lollipop Stick(1), DESHIMARU(1), Training Wear(1).
Points DLC such as Bonus Point Pack 8 ($6.99) containing 6500 PP to be distributed among your party members.
Costume DLC such as Extra Costumes 2 ($2.99) containing some extra attire for your heroines to try on.
3rd Extra Character ($2.49) containing a tome that allows you to resurrect a player from a previous Agarest game to join your party.
Right to the Blacksmith Pack 8 (Free) containing Cuprum(3), Argentum(3), Stannum(3), Breunnerite(3), Galena(3), Aurum(3), Iron Roze(3), Hideralzentum(3), Shining Fang(3).
This is just some of the content that you can use and is not completely necessary to earn the platinum.
Step 1: Play the game.
To start off you will be wanting to play the game on Easy difficulty so that you can get a sense of the battle as well as enjoy the story altogether. There are a lot of conversation events that you will read, along with a few laughs here and there. Meanwhile for the rest of the journey you will be free roaming the land killing monsters to gain levels for your party. As you level up, you will gain Power Points (PP) to spend on your characters.
Each character has 6 stats to choose from:
- STR (Strength)
- VIT (Vitality)
- AGI (Agility)
- DEX (Dexterity)
- INT (Intellect/Intelligence)
- MND (Mind)
In order to earn the trophies for each stat, you must have acquired 99 points or more in any of the 6 categories WITHOUT the aid of weapons, accessories, or items. For example: I have 500 PP and my character, Weiss, has 65 points under the STR (Strength) category. I place the points under the desired category to make him stronger, or choose to save them up until later in the game. Regardless of whether you want to use the points or not is up to you, and you will not lose the points that you have not spent as they will be gathered in a pool all together. Once you have earned 99 points on all stats, you will earn the following trophies: You Strong Me Along, Been to Health and Back, Nice Guys Finish Fast, View to a Skill, Coming of Mage, and Working in a Coal Mind.
At the same time that you are battling monsters, you will also earn TP (Technical Points). TP is what's used to learn new skill books and abilities for your characters and the amount gained is always random. Once you have earned 10000 TP, you will earn the trophy I Could Get Technical, But What's The Point
Once you get into the town of Frensberge, you will have access to the Item Shop. The item shop is a place to enhance your weapons and items to make them stronger, sell them to earn money for purchases, or dematerialize them to earn ingredients for creating other stuff.
There are a few trophies which require you to purchase a set amount of items, as well as sell a set amount of items and enhance a set number of items. The trophies are as followed:
I Am the 1% - Collect 1 million G
Consume! CONSUME! - Buy 500 items
Shook the Invisible Hand - Sell 100 items
To Sleep, Enhance to Dream... - Enhance 100 items
Born Again - Convert an item
These trophies will come naturally over the course of time and is recommended to be left for post gameplay should you choose to do so.
